Vanilla+ Changes

NostalgiaCraft enhances the classic Minecraft experience with carefully selected quality-of-life improvements designed specifically for multiplayer gameplay. Unlike modded servers, NostalgiaCraft maintains true vanilla gameplay progression and mechanics. These enhancements simply address multiplayer-specific challenges without fundamentally changing how Minecraft works. Some features may require rank purchase.

Certain features may be omitted here due to already being present on the command list wiki page.

World & Environment Enhancements

  • Player-Friendly Improvements:
    • Fire tick disabled (prevents griefing and accidental base destruction in a shared world)
    • Crop trampling disabled (respects other players’ farms and food production)
    • Fast leaf decay enabled (reduces cleanup time after community tree harvesting)
  • Technical Changes:
    • Fixed sand/gravity-block duping mechanics (TNT/carpet/rails duping still works for community farm projects)
    • Bedrock remains unbreakable (prevents world leaks and maintains world integrity)
    • Dynamic view distance (8 chunks standard, adjusts during high activity to keep server gameplay smooth)
    • Anti-xray measures (you may notice ores/blocks changing around you while mining, and other blocks change as you approach certain structures/features)
    • Player-friendly world border (teleports to spawn instead of damaging players)

Mob Balance Adjustments

  • Mob Spawning Changes:
    • Reduced zombified piglin portal spawning
    • Toggle phantoms (gives players control over this sometimes frustrating mechanic)
    • Per-player mob spawn cap
    • Dynamic mob spawn rates, based on the player count
      • The higher the player count, the lower the spawn rate
  • Improved Interactions:
    • Optimized villager behavior: villagers with locked professions will have an alternate behavior that restocks based off a server timer and not whether or not they worked, to save on server resources
    • Trees replant saplings automatically, simply break the sapling if replanting is not desired
    • Donkey portal restrictions (prevents some duplication exploits)
    • Global spawn sound for Ender Dragon and Wither disabled
    • Ender Dragon has each player’s damage tracked and announced at the conclusion of bossfight

Quality of Life Features

  • Item Improvements:
    • Larger XP orb size
    • Automatic death coordinates posted to chat (reduces frustration of finding your items)
      • May be toggled via the command [/deathcoords toggle] in game
    • Show held item and display in chat by typing “[i]” or “[item]”
  • Community Comfort:
    • Sitting on stairs (right clicking stairs or with /sit)
    • Invisible item frames (/voterewards)
    • Custom player heads through voting (/voterewards)
    • Armor stand customization (Requires Sponsor rank or above)
    • Pet carrying (Requires Monthly Supporter rank or above)
    • Items display on signs (Requires Monthly Supporter rank or above)
    • Multiplayer sleep system (percentage is set through the Vanilla gamerule)

Server Mechanic Changes

  • Performance Balancing:
    • Optimized redstone behavior with Alternate Current
    • Hopper and other block entity limits
    • Certain entities like villagers, animals, etc. are capped on a group/density limit to prevent lag
    • Chunks with no player activity are deleted, this is checked every few weeks, see here for more details
  • Community Systems:
    • AFK player kicking during peak times (ensures active players can join)
    • Privacy-respecting chat (Mojang reporting disabled)
    • Creative plots server for design projects (/server plots)
